You HEAAAAARD ME RIGHT BABY.
Both features are stupidly stupid. which was presented excellently by uncle dane
If you want to debate them with me feel free.
Well wHat AbouT jAILbreAk?
Random critical hits give every class the ability (besides the scout) to one shot 7 of the 9 classes, which is a pretty powerful tool for a guy with only their melee. Which they really shouldn't have, its essentially granting free kills for reds and hard punishing blues for baiting whether intentionally or not, meaning its a crutch for reds that cant rebel smartly and just leave the yellow line swinging their whip hoping for a random crit. Blues shouldn't die just because they got into a reds melee range once, or getting hit in obby. The death is undeserving and the feeling of just pure frustration is further amplified by the possible 10 minutes respawn time which just isnt fun. Rebelling isn't just making a dash to the nearest exit, that's why crits are a thing for blues, we should apply this mindset also with random crits and how reds shouldn't be rewarded for reckless and stupid decisions.
Reds shouldn't be rewarded by running away when no one's looking, so they shouldn't be rewarded blindly charging the soldier hoping for an undeserved kill.
Why remove Bullet Spread?
They make damage inconsistent which only serves as a detriment to crits, the bullet spread in most cases makes weapons do less damage, it works the exact way for rebels as well.
Yeah but Blues have crits, don't random crits balance it out?
No, hell no. Both serve different purposes, crits are supposed to help blues manage reds since reds can overrun blues without actual firepower. Random crits actively contradict this and in some cases nullify it entirely. Games with large numbers can dissolve to chaos the moment a warden is random critted by a pyro since blues don't have enough time to go warden and get reds under control. That's one example of many.
In conclusion, random crits encourage the wrong idea of rebelling and reward reckless rebelling tactics over tactical rebelling. It unfairly punishes blues for insignificant mistakes and is incredibly frustrating.
Thats why they should be removed.
