how to convert vtf to gif?

ive been trying to find a converter online that does this but ive only found gif to vtf.

so i wanted to convert a vtf file to png or tga and i copy/pasted one into a folder titled unedited_vtf and used VTFedits' convert folder function to convert it to png in another edited_vtf file (both of which are on my desktop). needless to say it didn't work and now i need help.

maybe try to convert to png?
why do you need a gif?
