I am constantly having a server disconect and buffer overflow message when I play on the servers. Does anyone know why it happens?

Thanks for the feedback, that actually makes sense. I'll try to see if I can modify my computer's settings to fix it.I'm pretty sure it's when too many people talk on mic. If you play jailbreak you'll probably experience this a lot.
Or, alternatively:I found lowering voice receive volume helps.
Thanks, I'll try that in order to stop my disconnects.I found lowering voice receive volume helps. It helped me, but it depends with your computer and specs (also could be a Wi-Fi thing). Try different things or google it online, I wouldn't be surprised if others asked the same thing. Just don't do any weird things like messing with the files or making scripts or anything, you don't want to fuck up your game. Hope this helped.
Thanks, I'll try this if the other method isn't too efficient.Or, alternatively:
- Right click on the Steam icon in the system tray and select 'settings'
- Click the 'downloads' tab
- Set approximate speed to 'cable/fiber > 10M' NO MATTER WHAT CONNECTION YOU HAVE
(One of the reasons you get buffer overflow is Steam will stop when exceeding what it thinks is the limit of your internet capacity can handle.)
- For download region, choose the closest server on the list to you.
Another thing you can do to stop this problem from occurring:
- Open TF2
- Go to options, then the 'keyboard' tab, and click on 'advanced options'
- Check the box labeled 'enable developer console'
- Go back to the TF2 main screen
- Press the 'grave' key on your keyboard, which is this: `
- Type 'rate 60000'

Anyway, even thou i had my rate set to 55000 and i am connected via ethernet with a speedy connection, i still have problems with it. I think thats because you recive too many packets at once and the game simply cant handle it. (You can see it via net_graph 1/2/3)Or, alternatively:
