Depending on what you do, exhaling is done correctly through the mouth when doing sport such as jogging. Also if it is somehow not possible to do it through your nose( for example when sick when the nostrils are blocked) both inhaling and exhaling can be done through your mouth. Usually, you should inhale through your nose as the air will be warmed up and wetted upon intake to make it easier for your lungs to use it and exhale out your mouth to speed up the inhale/exhale process.

TL;DR
When doing sport - exhale through mouth
when doing nothing - exhale through nose
