the smart date format with: day.month.year (dd.mm.yyyy) (example: Europe)
Not so smart date format month.day.year (mm.dd.yyy) (Example: America)

Actually YYYY/MM/DD is the best. Because then it's chronologic order from january till december. otherwise it's only chronological per month
