While i'm not sure if it happens in servers other than 2fort BR, Footprints usually get activated (mostly to a specific color but idk) when you use the Dead ringer.
It's really annoying since it can ruin your stealth as a Spy or simply change your current footprint to another one you didn't want.
With the Custom Weapons servers finally being up, this thread will be useful for the servers futurely.
