If you were taking a long time then you may have been slayed for delaying the round as you weren't actively trying to kill Hale. Apart from that, no using secrets is not against the rules.

I do believe that using a round win secret is considered LR denial though. Not sure, I'll have to double check.

Reds are allowed to use any normal map secrets during VSH (as long as they dont hide in unreachable areas). This includes map exits and unleashing Putin's wrath. A rebel Red winning a round isn't considered LR denial either, otherwise trying to rebel on an LR round at all would be punishable.
