Hello, I have a question. If you run away, but then the warden dies, does that mean that you are pardoned? Thanks

I mean lets say warden was alive during the time you decided to run off, this makes you rebelling. If warden dies after you decided to run off it would be a freeday until another player has gone warden. You would basically still be rebelling unless pardoned by the new warden.

No, you're considered a rebel until the new warden pardons you. If no one takes warden, you are still considered a rebel and if you die by a guard, even for something else, you rebelled and were allowed to be killed. Pardoning to begin with brings up issues with what I think personally but many wardens use it as a method to get reds to stop running off when they can be pardoned and still win lr.
if you can read this you are a wizard and btw this was a short paragraph for a tldr
tl;dr
No, you are not automatically pardoned.

OK, is it okay if I say I am pardoned because none of the guards know the rules most of the time, or do I have to tell the truth?
What exactly do you mean by that? Do you mean if warden says "All reds are pardoned if they afk freeze" or something that you will just give them a heads up so you don't get freekilled? Or do you mean if you just say "I am pardoned" but not telling the truth and you die its freekill? Because if so, then don't cry freekill if you really weren't pardoned and still rebelling

No, if I know I wasn't pardoned, but I tell the guards that I was pardoned to try to deceive them, is that okay? This is more of if I can lie to guards.

You would still be KOS until you are officially pardoned. So don't say "FREEKILL" when you die because of this
