On what servers do you usually play on, and which servers would you like to moderate?
Jailbreak and class wars.

Why would you like to become a moderator?
I want to be a moderator because I care about the health and growth of this community, I value respectful, engaging and I believe good moderation plays a key role in maintaining that. I’m committed to helping enforce rules fairly, resolving conflicts calmly, and making sure everyone feels welcome and heard. I am also organised, reliable, and capable of handling both routine tasks and unexpected issues with a level-headed and calm approach. Being a moderator isn’t just about control, it’s about service, and I’m ready to contribute in a way that helps the community thrive. My work in real life is a public service role which enables me to learn how to handle any situation at any time in a quick and professional manner so I think my work experience can be a benefit to the staff team.

Do you know or have spoken to any of the current staff members? Yes

Please let us know the names of staff members you know or have spoken to
Dark, Luna and quishy

How often do you play TF2?
As often as I can

Please give us your ideal way of punishing players, specific to the servers you want to moderate
Jailbreak servers rely heavily on trust, communication, and a structured rule system — and when players break those rules, it can easily ruin the experience for others. My goal as a moderator would be to maintain a fun, fair, and respectful environment without jumping straight to harsh punishments unless necessary.

My Punishment Philosophy

I believe in a tiered punishment system with emphasis on:

Educating new or misinformed players
Warning before punishing when appropriate
Escalating punishment for repeated or intentional rule-breaking
Protecting the player experience from trolls, cheaters, or toxic players

Common Jailbreak Offences & My Punishment Approach

1 Freekilling (Guards/Warden killing prisoners without valid reason)

1st Offence (minor): Verbal or text warning + explanation of freekill rules
2nd Offence: Slay + warning; optionally removed from Guard team for the next round(s)
3rd Offence: Guardban for a set number of maps (e.g. 2-5)
Intentional mass freekill/trolling:** Immediate guardban or temp server ban

2 Warden Abuse / Micspamming / Confusing Orders

Minor confusion: Friendly reminder or warning
Spam / Disruption: Mute or gag (temporary)
Repeated abuse: Warden ban or time-limited mute/gag (e.g. 30–60 minutes)
Extreme cases: Temp server ban

3. Disrespect / Racism / Harassment

Zero tolerance for racism, hate speech, or personal harassment
1st Offence:Mute/gag + warning
2nd Offence: Temp ban (1–3 days)
Further behaviour: Longer ban or permanent depending on severity

4. Cheating / Exploits / Hacking

Immediate permaban, pending admin review or proof if needed
No tolerance — cheating ruins the entire experience

5. Trolling / Delay / Refusing to Rebel or Play

1st Offence: Slay + warning
Repeated: Kick or short temp ban (15–60 min)

6. Micspam / Soundboard in inappropriate moments

1st Offence: Friendly ask to stop
2nd: Temp mute
Repeat: Gag/mute for longer duration's (1–3 hours)

Documentation and Appeals

Every punishment — especially guardbans, mutes, or bans — should be properly logged:

* Player name, SteamID
* Offence committed
* Date/time
* Action taken
* Evidence (demo/screenshot if needed)

Players should also always have the right to appeal punishments in the forums or Discord. If they show genuine understanding or remorse, I believe in second chances, especially for non-malicious behaviour.

Team-Based Moderation

I don’t believe in moderating in a vacuum. If a situation feels uncertain, I’d check with other mods/admins to ensure I’m making a fair decision. Consistency across the staff team builds trust within the community.

Final Thoughts

The flow of game play relies on trust in the rules and fairness in their enforcement. My ideal punishment system is one that:
* Prevents bad behaviour from repeating
* Helps new players learn the ropes
* Deals quickly and firmly with trolls or malicious players
* Maintains a positive, fun, and safe environment for everyone
That’s the kind of server I want to help moderate — one where the rules are clear, the staff is fair, and the players know they’re part of a well-managed community.

Is there any other information you would like us to know about?
I have experience moderating and managing staff and players on other games outside of TF2 for the past 5 years, I learn quickly and am dedicated to making gameplay as enjoyable for everyone in game and being friendly on discord (I admit I'm not as active on discord as I don't always use it). I pride myself in my work and aim to always be fair and understanding when it comes to dealing with peoples situations/

Are you proficient in languages other than English? No

Hey Irish, glad to see you applying, I'm going to cover bits of your application!

Your last application - declined due to insufficient playtime.

TFStats isn't updated, but sufficient playtime according to Battlemetrics.

Chatlogs appear fine - just be careful with how frequently you're swearing at other players.

Same as Sera last mentioned, only recorded punishment is a false positive from the Anti-Cheat.

You've listed me as a staff member you've spoken to without my approval - I've only spoken to you a handful of times, usually for saying hello and telling you off for delaying.

Punishment Section

Before I touch on specific bits - I'm going to start by saying that your section is lacking, a lot. I'm probably more of a critic than other's when it comes to this, but I would like to see it fully fleshed out - whilst a punishment ladder isn't required, it's nice to see how you'd punish repeat offenders. When I mention fleshed out, i'm refering to covering every, if not 90% of the rules. Especially considering Jailbreak is such a complex gamemode it is important that you show us you understand majority, hopefully all the rules.

The final thing I caught on to before I go over specifics; you seem relatively trigger-happy when it comes to these "temp bans" in your punishments. Temp Bans aren't a thing and never have been (yes; the punishment is temporary) - but there are punishments we don't ban for. How i'm understanding this, and from what we would do on Garry's Mod is that these "temp bans" are "flick bans" where you ban someone for a short duration just to get them off of the server for whatever reason. -- We don't do flick / temp bans here, we follow a process and fit the punishment accordingly based on prior punishments, which you will learn more about if you pass. I recommend looking at other accepted / declined applications to get a rough idea, without copying.

I won't point it out on all of them - but we only ban for certain punishments - for any blue punishment which can extend to reds (we only ban the reds) such as sticky trapping, armoury camping, and so fourth.

Educating new or misinformed players
Warning before punishing when appropriate
Escalating punishment for repeated or intentional rule-breaking
Protecting the player experience from trolls, cheaters, or toxic players
Being able to "educate" new players is very situational based on what has happened, frequently we will still warn them for the encounter, while still educating/informing them. There are very few instances where you will get the chance to just be like "Hey- that's not how that works", especially with how fast-paced jailbreak is, how many players there are at once, and people actively seeking to disrupt your staffing.

I understand wanting to protect from trolls, cheaters, and toxic players - though don't try and burn yourself out prioritizing trolls and toxic people. Their behaviour isn't healthy, but just because you view someone as a troll isn't a path to punish them, they still need to actually break a rule to be punished. You can tell them to reel their head in and behave, but until they actually cross a certain threshold they are just mindless trolls and shouldn't be catered to too heavily as there's more important things to focus on.

1 Freekilling (Guards/Warden killing prisoners without valid reason)

1st Offence (minor): Verbal or text warning + explanation of freekill rules
2nd Offence: Slay + warning; optionally removed from Guard team for the next round(s)
3rd Offence: Guardban for a set number of maps (e.g. 2-5)
Intentional mass freekill/trolling:** Immediate guardban or temp server ban
We usually always slay for any freekill instance; whether warning or teambanned. We also don't slay them in the next round unless they freekilled right near the end of the round, where slaying them that round seems pointless. We also don't guard ban based on "maps" team bans are given a set time duration as with any other punishment (excluding kicks); this time ticks over in real time, whether the player is online or not.

Trolling also isn't a punishable offense as a blue unless it breaches another rule; such as button grief, teamkilling, impersonating warden, etc etc. We also don't ban for any blue punishments, they're all teambans. Immediate teamban for MFK is good, how long would you teamban them for?

2 Warden Abuse / Micspamming / Confusing Orders

Minor confusion: Friendly reminder or warning
Spam / Disruption: Mute or gag (temporary)
Repeated abuse: Warden ban or time-limited mute/gag (e.g. 30–60 minutes)
Extreme cases: Temp server ban
I'm not sure why these are together, micspamming is very different from "warden abuse" (whatever that is) and confusing/conflicting orders.

How long would you mute/gag them for? Also; we don't gag for micspam - gag is chat, mute is voice.
Warden bans aren't a real thing - neither do we gag or mute for "warden abuse" - can you explain what you even mean by warden abuse? You can be a bad warden, but you can't really abuse warden, unless it's abusing the line laser tool.

3. Disrespect / Racism / Harassment

Zero tolerance for racism, hate speech, or personal harassment
1st Offence:Mute/gag + warning
2nd Offence: Temp ban (1–3 days)
Further behaviour: Longer ban or permanent depending on severity
I'll go over this one since it's mostly all bans - but we don't ban for these types of punishments unless it is very severe and warrants it, which will usually be a collective decision by the team. For disrespect and harassment a warning is fine to start, but for racism we start at a mute/gag.

Since we don't ban for these, it'd be a mute / gag which scales appropriately.

Documenting your punishments isn't needed - sourcebans does all of that. All you need is proof (if required) - it's always good to have proof regardless.

All in all for your punishments - and this paragraph is going to repeat a few things prior. We don't jump to banning players unless the appropriate rule requires it - look at other applications to get a rough idea. We scale gags/mutes/teambans/bans from a smaller duration up to permanent. - I would like to see you go over this section in it's entirety and add in the vast majority of rules you missed, as with this I don't feel very confident in your knowledge. It's okay not to know everything, but when you're only including 7-8 of our rules it gets a little worrying. I'd also like to see you include our general tf2 server rules ontop of our jailbreak ones.

In closing topics; the only thing I can bring up extra is that on the server's you seem like an alright person - though you've actively conflicted with me in chat when it comes to telling players off. And have actively gone out of your way to clash against my instructions when warning you for delaying, especially LR's like VSH. And have also actively incited others to also not listen, and to delay when they shouldn't be. This might seem something minor as it's only delaying - but it sets a bad precedent for other players when you're actively not listening to staff and guiding them to break the rules. It also sets a bad example for an aspiring, and possibly future mod to be breaking the rules as well and displaying such behaviour.

Overall thank you for applying, though I think your punishments need a pretty big touch up - follow the feedback, look to over applications for ideas and you shouldn't have too much issues. Feel free to ask any questions if you have any - asking questions is never a bad thing!
