To check for potential scammers, look on reputation sites like steamrep or outpost for any previous recorded fraud and inform yourself about current scamming methods to protect yourself.
If a link seems unsafe to you, scan it with virustotal.com and report it to us.
If you believe you have been scammed, please report him/her to steam and/or steamrep.
Of course, if you provide solid evidence and report such fraud here in the forums, staff can look into it and take care of it.
