It just gives cheaters a chance to toggle off before someone can figure out if they are actually cheating.

I'm fairly certain its an admin only command and even if it isn't the box still shows when you are being spectated it will just have an empty list.

It's been reworked, I'm 99% sure anyone can use it, and the empty list only shows up for the person spectating.

Admins can see each other spectating even if they've hidden themselves.

Perhaps the box should show the sm_speclist_hideme command somewhere so regular users can learn about it when spectating?

I didnt know that you can do that
I just go in spectator and "follow" the player i am keeping an eye on. Nice to know that you can do that, saves me alot of time
