Answered SteamID usable for voting

I recently was playing Jailbreak, a hacker joined and took someone on the servers' name. Then he activated a lenny bind script and spammed. I tried to gag him for spamming but he said that multiple people had that name. Then i pulled up the console and tried to fetch his steamID. I eventually got it and tried to start the vote with his ID, but it was invalid.


Why can't we ban based on SteamID's?

I believe you can but it's not very user friendly. You should try and get an admin next time. If you need to votegag with steamid you have to do it like this:
sm_votegag #[U:1:81636689]

with status, there is a number with a # before it.
You can use that number to kick people
(e.g. sm_votekick #444)


Keep in mind.
The way @Buster mentioned is the SteamID3, that is something a person has all the time.
The way I mentioned is a number provided by the server which will change every map/every new server.
