I did not freekill according to my understanding at the time. My thought process:
The spy was KOS because he went into the blus melee range for no reason.

Red Team (top)
These rules apply to all the prisoners/reds. Breaking these rules make you KOS.

One of the red rules is:
No griefing
During a personal freeday, you may not get into melee range of the Blue team for no reason, trap Blues by bodyblocking, activate minigames (Death Run, Fall Game, 9 Square, ...) or put non rebel members of the Red team in danger such as by closing a door on them, activating a minigame while they are inside or pushing them away from their destination when collisions are on.

I was given explicit permission to do what I was banned for by an admin (Comet) on this server, as evidenced by the previous appeal thread.

Given the fact that my behavior was in accordance with a reasonable interpretation of the rules as well as having been explicitly endorsed by a current admin, the ban is unjustified. I am willing to accept this was a freekill in retrospect and not repeat this behavior.

Which one of these statements do you actually believe in?

Dear Jim,

You seem to be implying that the statements I made contradict each other. Perhaps I didn't express the latter thought clearly enough.
The following are known facts on BWJB:
1. Not all rules are explicitly laid down in the wiki page.
2. Admins have a different understanding of the rules. This is most clearly illustrated by the fact that Comet (an admin) explicitly endorsed the notion that the spy in the report was KOS, while 10k, who is another admin, contradicted him and asserted that the warden (me at the time) should have given the spy a verbal warning before killing me.

The two points demonstrate that the notion of a freekill (and jailbreak rules in general) is not really set in stone as it exists today. Even though most rules are clear cut, others are more dependent on the whims of some admins as well as some unwritten discussions (this exact sentiment was also echoed by some of your admins). Therefore, it makes sense for the player (me) to change their understanding of the rules that they got from reading the rules as well as having discussions with admins, as both the rules and the admins apparently can be wrong, incomplete. Even though my understanding was perfectly fine and consistent with the resources I had at the time, in the sense that if a new unbiased player who I do not know came down and read the same things I did they would come away with the exact same understanding of the rules, as I believe they would.

Given these two established facts, It's entirely consistent to think that
1. I was acting within my best understanding of the rules.
2. I explicitly asked an admin about this exact behavior because I thought it might be ambiguously understood and got explicit approval by an admin to do what I did.
3. I got team banned for this behavior because some admins have a conflicting understanding of the rules.
4. I am willing to adjust my understanding of the rules to not get team banned again.

I hope this clears up any confusion.

You are free to ask questions to staff about unclear scenarios either on discord or the forums at any time. Until you are informed enough to not need explicit explanations for many such situations I don't think it would be fair to let you back on blue when it seems not much has changed in the time you've been inactive.
