So I think we have a problem regarding Punishment Appeals. There are simply to many people, non-admins in fact that post on them. I’m not saying all those posts are bad, rather some of them are useful, but as I see it there’s 3 options.
1. Only admins can post and reply on Punishment Appeals
2. Every non-admin has one of those things were their message are awaiting allowance from a moderator. Like such:

Or 3. Just automatically lock threads so only admins and the appealer can post on it.

Note this is a suggestion regarding admins if youre not an admin don’t vote or reply

Never seen somebody so uninvolved in the appeal process so angry at users posting in appeals. Usually, if an admin does not feel a user's post is necessary they'll remove the post.

Now, let me and my lack of opinion also say that #3 would most likely just cause confusion. A user posting an appeal only to find it locked will be concerned that something is wrong with the appeal and probably try to post another one. Then there will be posts like "why are my posts being locked?"

Number 2 is probably the best option, but you specifically asked nonadmins not to reply so ehhh

I +1 this.

Also, better to just make it moderator approval if anything. If a regular user has something important to add, locking the thread wouldn't allow them to add it. Though I do think it's fine as is, considering mostly new users are the ones who make unnecessary posts, and they'll learn.

The second options seems the best and most reasonable, or alternatively make the appeals only viewable by administrators.

It doesn’t regard me, so I’m not allowed to give my opinion?

Yes exactly. People will think it’s dumb and go ahead. This has nothing to do with any others than the admins that’s why it’s them who should decide. You as a member shouldn’t even reply to PA. I’ve done it to I know but that doesn’t mean I think it’s good. If you have something you know about why the person got punished or anything else that can be important for admins to know THEN by all means go ahead and post it, but posts like this

I honestly don't see the issue. (Also maybe don't aggressively tell people not to reply to this thread? Kind of rude.) Regular users have no influence in the decision that an admin ultimately makes. Even in this thread, what does or does not come of it will ultimately be decided by a moderator, regardless of what regular users say, so the whole thing seems pointless to me.

Yes, but this is Blackwonder COMMUNITY, wich in turn means that all members can equally participate and share their thoughts if they have something to say.
I know some comments are really not needed, but this here very well concerns the "regular" members as it regards their ability to respond on appeals.

Honestly I don't see the benefit in the change. It seems it would have to be more work on someone. People like to feel (whether an admin or not) like they can contribute and help. Taking that away I think would just cause more issues rather than fix what you are saying. It is a Community here and they should be involved with at the very least, their opinions.
Now granted, Having comments that have no relevance towards the issue is not helpful. "I don't think you are hacking" on a report doesn't really help staff determine an answer or provide any insight to a decision. I would imagine most that are told to "Please only provide useful information" would more than likely not do it again.

Perhaps adding a 2nd locked thread informing users on what they can and can't write? My 2 cents

P.S. Yelling at people to get your point across tends to have a negative reaction, trying another approach would prove more fruitful.

Community members should be getting a say in any appeal, if admins don't see it as appropriate contribution then they can just delete it or hide it.
It'd be pretty rad if we left it the way it is.

"its like 3months old" - Thread created Oct 17, 2017

There's not really any issue with users commenting on appeals. If they're that out of line they get warning points. I'm not sure how often admins moan about this in their *special place*, but if it hasn't been implemented yet after all this time, and admins haven't pushed for it to be done, I don't see much point in it being put in place at all.

So here's the thing with this:
Thread was created by a user a over a year ago. I forgot I ever replied to this. I feel like most people here forgot they replied to this, until they started getting notifications about this.

Considering the thread was created by a user, this is no longer really a problem, and that approximately 1/3 of the admins who voted are no longer admin, we should just disregard this whole thing and lock thread.

I don't see why you suggest disregarding this suggestion just because it was old, you are the ones unnecessarily necroing this thread.

I will, however, lock this thread as this is already on ToDo.
