I just want to know what name titles do besides being there

They don't do anything, friend. Everyone can see them, and that's about it.

They give you hidden abilities, such as the ability to stop time, regenerate health faster than any Medi-gun could, and to do +300% physical damage towards enemies. Unfortunately, no-one has figured out how to activate these abilities without having their computer fry them like a slice of toast so a block has been put in place to prevent them from being used.
