Have you managed servers previously? Yes
Which servers have you previously managed?
Managed 4 TF2 servers, all of which are now closed. The New Jetpack Server (ranked below coowner), Sulfurous Chain server(root admin), Sleek Gamers servers (multiple iterations and games, basically owned the TF2 branch as the owner gave me full permissions and FTP access), and a random death match server that lasted for about a month. These servers were sporadic but I spent about 6 years in total managing these.
On what servers do you usually play on, and which servers would you like to moderate?
US x1000 highertower (85.117.240.57:27035) specifically, but I do occasionally play on US 2Fort (85.117.240.3:27030) and US Class wars (85.117.240.14:27020). I would not be opposed to moderating all servers, however I do know that certain gamemodes require more specific moderation and I would want to familiarize myself with those servers and usual players before stepping into an administration role.
Why would you like to become a moderator?
Every now and then the x1000 server chat just goes down the wrong path and becomes completely unhinged and very gag/mute worthy. I kind of just want to help clean it up in a timely matter rather than using calladmin or reporting these on discord. If things do go well I wouldn't mind stepping higher up and helping develop the community. Pretty much every server I managed was successful to some degree, and I had genuine fun on all of them. If the situation arises I would be more than willing to do it again.
I have good knowledge of running servers, basic knowledge of mapping, and decent knowledge of sourcemod plugins. I would be comfortable with editting or attempting to fix any of these. I am not familiar with vscript but I do want to learn it as I think it would be very beneficial for people who want to play on listen servers while still having powerful, almost sourcemod level commands, just searching for something to push me to do so.
I've been playing on Blackwonder servers on and off for over 7 years, not really sure where I started though. I know I played on the dm_duel US server a lot back then. I am almost certain I played on a US x100 Orange and a US Uber Upgrades server as well, but I do not see them on TFStats and I do not have their IPs saved.
Do you know or have spoken to any of the current staff members? No
How often do you play TF2?
At least several times a month, I do have 7k hours in TF2 so it has added up. When I do play it is usually between 2pm - 8pm PST, everyday. Sometimes on weekends and Wednesdays I cannot be at my computer though.
Please give us your ideal way of punishing players, specific to the servers you want to moderate
Ideally I would have a 3 strike system, which is a warning, light punishment, then hard punishment.
Warning would consist of text or verbal warnings, making sure the player is responding to chat or voice chat. If for some reason the player is not responding, then I would try a slight punishment, such as a 1 minute temp gag/mute, or a slay, if applicable to the situation.
Light punishment would be a 30 minute gag/mute or kick, relevant to the situation. If a ban is more appropriate than a kick, it would not be longer than 30 minutes. This If the player is committing multiple offenses, a warning for each would be issued and only upped to punishment when that same rule is broken multiple times.
Hard punishment would be gag/mute or ban, time depending on the severity and situation, but a minimum of 1 hour. Ideally most hard punishments would be slightly less than a day to let people cool off. Repeat offenders would get increasingly higher punishments, up to a year before permanent ban,
There are certain situations where these would have to be bypassed. Only when rules have been broken without a doubt in my mind, would I then apply punishment to either control the situation or relieve the server of the problem. These situations could be blatant widespread hate speech in chat or voice chat or blatant hacking or exploiting trying to cause issues.
One thing I thought I should mention is spray management is fairly new to me. I'm not familiar with the commands around it, but I would attempt to follow the same outline I have above. Verbal warning to change spray, short spray ban, then long spray ban. As far as I can see from common spray management plugins on alliedmodders I don't see many of them having temporary spray bans, so maybe just go to full spray ban. Of course I will familiarize myself with relevant moderation commands if I do get accepted.
Is there any other information you would like us to know about?
I attempted to play competitive Battlerite, but the game died out and I was always ranked about 10th in NA, just short of any major tournament relevancy. I did get 10th in the Battlerite Battleroyal Winter Championship though, which was a global tournament.
I've mostly managed TF2 servers, but I have managed or been admin of, several Minecraft servers, several Gmod servers, and two V Rising servers.
I have good knowledge of programming in Java, C++, and Javascript. My sourcepawn experience is fairly limited, mostly just making menus for admins I had on a server.
