Title says it all really, Me and Grizzly will be joining Jailbreak, we will change our name and be really sneaky, so we would be able to catch those lil freekillers who want to escape JUSTICE!

However, there are those few people who like to announce us even when we join. We got so sick of it that Grizzly blocked one of these people, changed his name and profile picture, went on the server, "Hi Krankenwagen". Now this doesn't seem to bad, but the issue is that he only says "hi" to regular players, and admins. Which is what irritated us, because if someone actually figures thats what happens, then this will be a big pain in our asses.

The next one was even more irritating, a few days ago I went on as "BONUS DUCKS". Then I went on as "SKCUD SUNOB". Then I got this message in chat:

I hadn't actually talked until he said something.

THIS DOES NOT HELP! I am trying to be sneaky. BUT HEY LETS ANNOUNCE IT TO THE SERVER! WOOO!

Now I know me and @MiyukiMouse have discussed this before, but the thing with Grizzly shows that it doesn't work. Sure we can unfriend them but if they need to call on admin for help, makes it rather hard for them.

So my suggestion is that we can mute/gag people who announce admins who join to make our life easier instead of letting them announce.

As long as it's not against the rules "Do not call out admins unless they shown themselves." I don't know if we can do much against it. I don't know if you have a custom welcome message, have it on purple or dissabled them. I kick people from my friendlist who do it after I warned them. Or rulebreakers who want to know when I join and got some reports of them missbehaving. For me, this works. People then can knock on their chin for losing an admin under speeddial for calling me out everytime.

But I'll let you guys decide whether it should become a rule or not.

I turned my custom message off when I first got admin like you suggested, but the whole thing about deleting someone, doesn't always work because they can just press tab and see your profile picture, and I won't be changing my profile picture every time I join a server.

This is only a "problem" on jailbreak. Besides, if you really want to take this sneakiness seriously you can just unfriend people who see the popup of you joining (or go offline) and go instantly in spectator and use sm_speclist_hideme. Ben could maybe develop a plugin that doesn't display the joining message (not talking about welcome message, I'm talking about "xy joined from country"). That's the most that can be done about this in my opinion and Ben could spend his time developing something much more useful than this.

P.S.: It's sad that you have to change your profile pic and name to catch filthy rule breakers on jailbreak. Sounds like they're annoyingly persistent.

Like Buster said. I have the hideme command on keybind so the moment i join a server, i go into spectate and press it so nobody knows i'm there. Then i watch a round or two and by then the rulebreakers been caught and punished. Then I leave or play, depends on the mood. c:

Unfortunately, it doesn't always work. Which is incredibly infuriating when you've edited your profile a bunch only to have someone reveal you're an admin.

I'm fully supportive of making this a rule, and this could be applied to many servers. Say someone is hacking on orange, and you join, then someone says "*name* is here!!" after you've gone out of your way to edit your name and profile picture. Bam, hacker turns off his hacks, no progress was made. I do agree with Miyu's rule of "unfriend after warning" which may be easily applied should this rule not come through.

Too be honest, how stupid can a person be and tell the rulebreaker "yo, admin is here and he is going to ban you, so [rulebreak] again"...

I would just find that rule unnecessary and slightly pathetic. I don't really want to punish people for calling out that I joined a server. People don't really call you out on orange, hightower and trade where most of the hackers are. Again, this is a "problem" on jailbreak.

And I don't see how going offline, changing your name then joining spectator right away doesn't work.

If my name is set to 'Viking' and I join a server, I don't mind a few "hey Viking" here and there (but why don't you say hey to the other regulars too, huh, HUH?), but if my name is 'fuccboi6969' and they still go out of their way to announce it as Viking, I'll send them a /psay warning the first time and gag/mute the second time.

I know there's no standard procedure for this kind of thing, so I'm sorry if someone thinks my policy is poor. Those who get punished have been warned and know what they are doing. I find it necessary, however, as it almost seems as if people are playing the 'who can warn the rulebreakers first'-game.

And I'll be honest, some times I just want to play inkognito a little and not be showered in questions, demands or freekill accusations...

I forgot to mention that I don't mind greetings if my name is as per usual. Viking's policy is practically this request in a nutshell, so it's good to see others are having trouble.

For me it often works. So for me it doesn't need to become a rule. I just kick them from my steam. And it's their loss in the end. It's weird competition indeed then to "who can call the admin out the quickest"

There are a couple of things coding wise that I can do, such as hiding the connection message and hiding a player on a scoreboard. I'll work on it as soon as christmas hits, but for now I'm afraid you might have to put up with it

Until a few months back on the AKOD server, I remember I actually had to go on an alt account to avoid people recognizing me. I know what it feels like to try and do your administrative work or try and catch rulebreakers but get called out in chat which severely intervenes with it.

The rule me and @Grizzly discussed could be:

"Do not reveal admins taking obvious precautions to stay hidden: Shouting an admin's name out in mic or chat, or any other way of giving them away when they are trying to stay unnoticed. Breaking this rule can get you gagged/muted."

We feel that this would be a good way of wording it, so that just calling our names out when we go on normally would be fine, but if we have changed our name, we then could mute/gag them. But this would only be until Bene has the time to solve our issue with his wizardy skills.
