So, I was thinking if there could be added a /warn or !warn command. Only admins and donators would be able to use it (because obviously normal players could abuse it), and too a /warnings or !warnings command (for everyone), so you can see how many warnings do you have, see who warned you and the warnings you have.

This would be easier to warn people, and optional, because some players by getting comm blocked say ''Nobody warned me''.

Example: A guy is spamming, so you'll type: /warn [Name or STEAM ID] [warning] or !warn [Name or STEAM ID] [warning]

That's my suggestion. =P

Would be kinda useful, especially with having the ability to view how many warnings a player has received and why so that a suitable punishment can be handed out.

Yes, often when i warn someone they dont hear me because of other people talking or they dont see chat so i believe this would be good.

yes, but they still dont often see it and a way for admins/donors to know if someone has had warnings before for things would be good

I'm probably just being overcritical here but if said person doesn't see it, then it's only that players fault for not paying attention which is why they would be punished with a ban/comm block/slay or whatever right?

that's true but, with the warn command it's recorded 100% so if someone was doing something got warned and then banned or whatever and made an appeal saying well i didnt see a warning or didnt receive one we can use the warn thing to prove that they were :)

Again I'm going to be overcritical but if what this player did was bad enough to earn a comm block or a ban then it would already be recorded in sourcebans. Anything serious enough to earn a ban or comm block shouldn't need to be something a player is warned about especially if that player has had any prior incidents. The /warn command doesn't really look like it does anything other than poke another message that says don't break rules which is also countered when 80% of chat freaks out when somebody does something they shouldn't do anyway. I guess the command would be most useful for something minor when someone is for example baiting or excessively talking or something which still doesn't make a difference because if said person doesn't care enough to not pay attention to a given verbal warning then they should be punished.

No, sorry but this is pretty useless as there are already commands for this and Ben should focus on much more useful features.

use /msay /psay and other message commands, donators don't need to warn, those people who break rules 1.: Should've read the rules upon joining 2.: Should have common sense (not to spam etc) 3.: After the first short punishment they have opportunity to learn.

@will5023 A command wouldn't necessarily be recorded. Psay isnt recorded either, only if you check back a certain admins logs. Just spam sm_psay at a person with the console. That's what I do and it works.

I agree with Buster, this is a pretty useless command, and I would never use it. You are essentially just giving a new version of msay or csay etc. You've just moved the location on the screen.

Thought I would give admins some alternatives to the warn command, since we basically have it anyway.

In all chat "@ (message) - Sends a message which is clearer to everyone rather than a normal message.
/psay - Sends a message to one person specifically where you can provide them with the warning they require.
/msay, /tsay and /csay - All of these send a message to everyone on the server. /csay gives a large message in the middle of the screen, /msay provides a menu that they have to press "0" to remove, /tsay has a message at the top right of everyones screen which disappears after 5-10 seconds.

So /warn isn't going to improve anything. If these commands aren't enough for you to gain someones attention, they are just being ignorant.

It actually would get recorded. With the plugin that @Console posted, then sm_checkwarn <#UserID|nick> is to see how many warnings and what warnings does a player have.

I know that this would be useless for some people, but depending of how many warnings do you have, then you can get punished depending what and how many warnings do you have, and how many and what comm blocks do you have (Of course, if the player already got punished, then it could show that the player already got punished for the warnings that he needed to be punished (For example, a guy has 3 warnings for spamming, but he already got punished for the first 2 warnings. So there is still 1 warning. The admin can decide: Punish him for his active warning left (A warning that the person still didn't get punished), or, if he/she keeps spamming, then another warning, but that would mean that he/she'd get punished (Lenght depending how many comm blocks does the person have)).

It supports SourceBans as a feature, and it can play sounds too (when getting warned).

But as I said before;
This is optional. Not every admin would need to use this command, but the ones that feel that this is easier to use and faster to warn & see the warnings of a player.

Ps: Thanks @Console for posting that plugin.-smile-

well we could do so admins doesnt get the warn commands but donors does or admins does and donors does i dont really know

EDIT: well after ben gave me a 'what?' rating i guess i gotta explain myself
so what i meant is that if it ONLY could be donors that could get that command and then admins doesnt get the command or we could so both admins and donors get the command to warn people, however the psay, msay, csay , they are just an kinda older but they still works fine.

But for donors there is no all talk so this would not be pointless

/votemute - Mutes someone for 30 minutes.
/votekick - Kicks someone from the server.
/votegag - Gags someone for 30 minutes.
/calladmin - Calls an admin directly to the server through Discord.
Or simply type "record (name)" in console and you can simply report them on the forums.

What is /warn going to add? Another passive way of telling someone to stop? If you want things logged that admins can check on, simply votegag, votemute, or report them.
