I'm just curious as to why people who hacked aren't allowed to get unbanned no matter how long it's been.

Solution
@Aba put it perfectly here.
While we continue to appreciate your honesty, reflection and acknowledgement of your wrongdoings, we however maintain our strict no unban policy for cheaters. This would snowball into numerous appeals and constant risks of repeat offenses on top of everything already going on. Best of luck in other communities.

I'm afraid that is not how things work. Your account on Steam is your responsibility regardless of who was potentially on the account at the time, doing whatever they were doing on it. There is plenty of information available online to help protect any accounts you have, which includes but isn't limited to...

- 2fa (Two-factor authentication)
- Encrypted passwords
- Sharing IP addresses

The malicious users out there can't just break into your account unless they have some form of access to those accounts or systems. That can easily be done in the form of installing unknown software, logging into what seemed to be authentic Steam login pages, etc. It is unfortunate that your account allegedly got hacked, but that is not on us to resolve. Furthermore if one person was permitted to be unbanned after being hacked, then many more people would come to claim the same thing and that would not be the right message.

As the old saying goes
Once a cheater always a cheater.
Speaking from personal experiences when someone has cheated they have lost any trust that they would have due to them cheating and from when i used to administrate a Minecraft server the most common issue I was dealing with was people using cheats then coming back on alt account just to cheat again simply to troll or to annoy the community.
In the 4k hours of me playing tf2 the community runs servers have always had 1 rule and that was if you cheat you are perm banned from their servers for the rest of your life this was really clear during the cat bot invasion of 2016-18 when people used a cheat known has cathook people would join the community servers just to hack to troll communities and to try their best to make people rage quit from the servers, fast forward to 2026 the mentality behind why people cheat has not changed and over on panda.tf they is a user known as "oceanman" who is constantly joining them using cheats they hop on a new alt MFK,micspam and generally do anything they can to annoy the server for the little time they get before getting a ban again from the admins.

They has always been a zero tolerance for those who cheat and I do not personally feel this will ever change you made your choice to install cheats and use them now you face the consequences of that choice
