I'm just curious as to why people who hacked aren't allowed to get unbanned no matter how long it's been.
I'm afraid that is not how things work. Your account on Steam is
your responsibility regardless of who was potentially on the account at the time, doing whatever they were doing on it. There is plenty of information available online to help protect any accounts you have, which includes but isn't limited to...
- 2fa (Two-factor authentication)
- Encrypted passwords
- Sharing IP addresses
The malicious users out there can't just break into your account unless they have some form of access to those accounts or systems. That can easily be done in the form of installing unknown software, logging into what seemed to be authentic Steam login pages, etc. It is unfortunate that your account allegedly got hacked, but that is not on us to resolve. Furthermore if one person was permitted to be unbanned after being hacked, then many more people would come to claim the same thing and that would not be the right message.
