Have you managed servers previously? Yes

Which servers have you previously managed?
[I'm going to be copying most but not all of what's in this application from my previous application in 2023 with some adjustments, because after reading through it i believe most of it still stands.]

After some regulars on the server encouraged me to apply for it, I was a moderator on Wonder.tf/Asylum.tf (they changed names) for roughly 3 months before it effectively died due to there being a bug where reds could place and spam markers with a command, and the owner never really fixing it in time to save the server.

On what servers do you usually play on, and which servers would you like to moderate?
Blackwonder.tf Jailbreak US (85.117.240.51:27005)

Why would you like to become a moderator?
From my previous experience as moderator it's pretty amusing and i think i'm suited for it thanks to said experience and subsequent knowledge of plugins and how to handle reports, witnessing rules being broken, etc, as well as mostly getting positive feedback from Wonder.tf players and staff alike that i made the server a better and more fun place when it was still alive.

I have heard that i allow a good ammount looseness regarding both rules and ''crude banter'' in the chat from my time as a moderator at Wonder.tf. Since i am pretty active and usually play long sessions of TF2 when i do decide to play TF2, i could be on stand-by alot and provide some order when there is chaos in the server, which i think is sometimes needed.

Do you know or have spoken to any of the current staff members? Yes

Please let us know the names of staff members you know or have spoken to
The only staff member that is active that i have had a bit of a conversation with is Terri. The others who i talked to are either inactive or retired. But i do have some of them in my friendlist.

How often do you play TF2?
Lately my real life schedule is flexible so i have time to play almost everyday, and when i do play Tf2 i almost only play jailbreak.

Please give us your ideal way of punishing players, specific to the servers you want to moderate
What i used to do back on Wonder.tf was always warn the person, in an indifferent tone, that they 'please not do what they did again otherwise i'm forced to take action'. (Always in voice chat first, and if they dont respond in text chat).
If they do it again intentionally, they would get punished. If it was an accident, i'd respawn the freekilled person and let the round go on as normal.

I also ignore any insults that are thrown at me because i don't care, nor if they threw them at other players cause i know that's how many people just bond and banter with eachother, but i did always step in if someone said something overly-offensive towards someone with genuine hurtful intent to the point it became bullying or singling-out someone by one person or a group of people. In that case i would do the same as above, otherwise a mute.

Here's a general outline:

General Rules & Jailbreak Rules
  • Regarding the general server rules, i would always start with a slay/mute/gag/serverban* followed by a warning to not do whichever rule an offender might be breaking, followed by a consistent multiplication of the ban duration. Starting out at 30 minutes into 1 hour into 2 hours - 4 hours - 8 hours - 16 hours - 1 day - 2 days etc.

  • The only instance where there is an instant permanent serverban (until further notice) is in the case of a hacker, and someone who clearly comes onto the server just to massfreekill.

  • The only instance where there is an instant permanent teamban (until further notice) is in the case of a massfreekiller, and a person not having a microphone.

  • *a slay in the instance of someone who breaks jailbreak rules, a mute/gag/sprayban for someone breaking (voice-)chat rules & spray rules, and a serverban in case of a massfreekiller and hacker.

  • Different to the other jailbreak rules being broken; Armory camping, exploits, impersonating warden, going into unreachable areas, favouritism, talking over warden/staff, conflicting orders, and a clearly accidental freekill would only require a warning at first. Followed by the same (team-)ban duration system listed above.

  • Nothing would happen to the alleged offender unless i'm provided evidence or i witness the offence happening in real-time.

  • Said evidence should be provided in the discord via a recording, ideally a demo file.

Is there any other information you would like us to know about?
-Related to Jailbreak-

I'm aware that i've garnered a reputation for being too strict on deciding when a red is KOS, a reputation i've had even when i was mod (by non-mods mostly), but that's misjudged because i always try to be fair and i refrain from killing reds for stuff that i see other guards kill reds for frequently, and i am very heavily against favouritism even for people that i like and against people who may have insulted me or wronged me, and if i get called out for freekill i always check the replay and slay myself if it was indeed a freekill.

Also, i have quite a big teamban history, but the vast majority of those teambans came from donors who either made a mistake or willingly abused their power due to a personal dislike towards me. One person even losing their donor status because of it. But these have largely stopped lately.

-Personal-

Sometimes i tend to come off as too direct and emotionless due to me being autistic, one of my traits being that i struggle to express emotions vocally and physically. So please don't take it personally if i sound dry/uninterested in you or come over as condescending :)

I also have slight palilalia, a condition which regularly compulses me to repeat a sentence in my head before i say it or repeat it out loud after i have said it, in case if you ever hear me repeat myself in voice chat.

Are you proficient in languages other than English? Yes

Are you proficient in languages other than English? Other than English i consider myself to be able to speak these languages to varying degrees of fluency:
-Afrikaans
-Dutch
-Slovenian
-French
-Moroccan Arabic
-German

and i'm currently going to take Portuguese classes

(and yes, i can actually have a bit of a conversation in these languages with some struggles, i don't just know a few sentences.)

Thanks for reading & happy easter!

Hello Ana, just a quick overview of this application

First application, declined for being team banned while having their app up

Playtime is good, been active since during the last bit of March

Most of your punishments were from 2023 and earlier, though some donor vote bans are recent from January of this year if you would mind elaborating on that.

Chatlogs are fine

Please let us know the names of staff members you know or have spoken to
I have spoken to at least some extent with DuckLurch, Terri, Ron, and 1000 Knights (i don't quite recall any of them have retired from being a staff
We don't have a Ron here, unless you're referring to Rob or Rodd (Ducklurch is inactive and 1000 Knights is retired, having their names on here doesn't make sense)

Why would you like to become a moderator?
Thanks to growing up on old Jailbreak servers like HOPJB (yes, the one that the map is named after) my favourite gamemode in Team Fortress 2 has for years now been Jailbreak due to the structure, fun interactions and social aspect. After not playing games in general for a good few years, i have fell in love with the gamemode again. And with a long comeback into jailbreak out the way, i now know how to apply the rules again to be a decent moderator that knows how to keep a healthy balance between applying the rules and letting everyone have a fun time; cause that's what the gamemode is all about in the end.

Despite my reputation for being ''strict'' (which really is only aimed towards the AFK-AFM order) i have heard that i allow a good ammount looseness regarding both rules and ''crude banter'' in the chat from my time as a moderator at Wonder.tf. Since i am pretty active and usually play long sessions of TF2 when i do decide to play TF2, i could be on stand-by alot and provide some order when there is chaos in the server.

Good to know, but most of what you say here feels unreverent to add into what you would want to become a mod.

Punishment section is fine, but a concern of how you would acquire evidence, what software would you use if someone was caught cheating/hacking or breaking a rule?

I do appreciate you addressing some concerns and other things that had happened, but I don't think the explanation could be dumbed down a bit since it's kind of a long read to get through and obtain the important information.

That's all, feel free to make some changes to this application, and we'll wait for feedback to be given. Reach out to us if you have any questions.

Thank you for the reply!

I reduced some of the paragraphs to what i think are the most important pieces of info.

That Ron person is a moderator on my friendlist from an unrelated server, my bad.

To put it bluntly, those teambans were from people who abused their donor power to look cool in front of the boys. The only valid donor teambans were from before this year.

Also i don't really know what you mean by ''what software would you use if someone was caught cheating/hacking or breaking a rule?''. Do you mean what command or what website or am i missing something here?

This is not reassuring when previous teambans were looked over meticulously and found to be legitimate.

Yea i wish i recorded more of them, but at a certain point i got used to it and thought it wasn't a big issue cause those donor teambans only last 1 hour anyway, so i stopped recording them when i came back to TF2. I always slay if i believe i freekilled someone and i think this is known in the community so that's the closest thing to proof i can provide as of now.

Hi Ana,

Thank you for taking the time to play on our servers and fill out an application. The content itself is good, there aren't really concerns with it. The overarching issues have to do with your history, your presence on the servers, and the way you interact with the community.

Your 33-teamban history is a mixed bag of official bans, legitimate donor votes, and invalid donor votes. We could take a whole day to look at the legitimacy of the donor bans, but it's unlikely we'd be able to get any sort of recording from you or the donor(s) for each one. That doesn't mean we can dismiss this as "most of my teammbans are donor abuses."

Many people have been frustrated by your poor mic quality, rounds as warden, and unusually strict enforcement of orders. I believe this isn't the first time these have been brought up as issues to you, either from staff or players, but many of these are the same complaints from your first application.

I'm seeing a lot of arguments or disagreements end in this conclusion that "Blackwonder users just don't like having women around" and I'd like to address that quickly. There are definitely people who go out of their way to give women a hard time. I have no doubt that there might be some immature players that just have it out for you for that. However, the concerns we have surrounding your application are not gendered. That being said, you are always welcome to report players' behavior.

Overall, there's a lot of friction between you and the community. I wouldn't be able to confidently say yet that having you on the team would be a pleasant experience for you or the community, so I will be declining this application.
